Jane - There you are! You look great.

Casey - Thanks!

Jane - Okay. Let's go. Come on. Oh. Here.

Casey - What's this?

Jane - I brought you a shawl, Visine, Tylenol and a pair of my earrings. About your hair.

Casey - What? The bitch said, "Up." It's up.

Jane - Okay. I'll fix it inside.

Casey - What's all this stuff?

Jane - Let's just hurry.

Suzanne - Aren't the dresses great? The best thing about them is you can shorten them and wear them again.

Jane - Definitely. So true.

Photographer - Give me a smile. Okay. Excuse me. On the right.

Pastor 1 - We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Suzanne and Greg. This is a time of great joy. As we honor two people who have come together to be joined in holy matrimony.

Jane - Sorry. Taxi! Great. Thanks. 31 Water Street. Brooklyn. Okay. I will give you $300 flat for the whole night on one condition.

Driver - Yeah.

Jane - You don't look in the rear-view mirror or I deduct. Deal?

Driver - Yeah.

Jane - Great.

Driver - What are you doing?

Jane - Hey. You just cost yourself 20 bucks.

Driver - No one's looking.

Jane - I'll be right back.

Maid of Honor 1 - Thank God you're here. I'm freaking out. I forgot my thingy.

Jane - Oh! I've got extra. No worries.

Maid of Honor 1 - Perfect. Thank you.

Shari - Hi! Are these dresses great? And the best thing is you could shorten it and wear it again.

Jane - That is definitely so true.

Pastor 2 - We gather here today to join in holy matrimony Shari Rabinowitz and Prakash Maharasti known to his friends as "Woody." Shari and Rrakash are so happy that so many of you are here today.

Jane - What are you doing? Get in the car! Come on! - Go! Go! Go!

Driver - You in?

Jane - Go! Hey! Hey! You are down to 260. Are you sure you wanna keep this up?

Driver - No!

Jane - Okay, then.

Casey - Okay. Which one do you want? The brunet or the blond? I kinda want the blond. I'm not gonna lie.

Jane - Casey, can't you keep it in your pants for one wedding?

Casey - Are you kidding? The only reason to wear this monstrous dress is so some drunken groomsman can rip it to shreds with his teeth.

Kevin - What time is it now? Well, I'm just gonna be about two more hours, so... I'll call you back.

Driver - Hey! Wrong shoes! Wait a minute. Wrong shoes.

Jane - Ziggy! What?

Shari - Jane, I'm so hungry. Did you eat anything?

Jane - Oh, yeah.

Shari - I haven't eaten anything. And let me give you some advice, do not drink Moet on an empty stomach. it's, like, whoa...

Suzanne - Did you meet my grandma?

Jane - Yeah. She was great. I really enjoyed her.

Suzanne - I think she's having fun.

Jane - Oh, yeah. Lots.

Maid of Honor 2 - Hey, what is that thing on your forehead?

Jane - Oh.

Suzanne - I'd like to take a moment to give a special thank-you to a girl who's really gone above and beyond.

Shari - The girl who not only hosted my shower and helped me design the invitation.

Suzanne - She went with me to the caterer, the florist, the wedding cake bakery,

Shari - And to eight bridal stores where she helped me cling to my self-esteem...

Suzanne - ...as I tried on dress after dress.

Shari - So thanks, Jane!

Suzanne - Thanks, Jane. Okay! Everybody ready?

Maggie - These are for you.

Ike - Used.

Maggie - Well, they're mine. I'm turning in my running shoes to you.

Ike - This is serious.

Maggie - And there's one more thing. I know, the mind reels that there could be more after this. But, um, if you could just have a seat. Let's just not have that there. Okay. Okay.

Ike - Oh, no. My, God, no.

Maggie - No, no. Don't hide your face. This happens once in a lifetime, and it's definitely a first for me. You're not gonna want to miss it, so pay close attention. I love you, Homer Eisenhower Graham. Will you marry me?

Ike - I have to think about this a little bit.

Maggie - Good. I was hoping you would say that.

Ike - You were not! Not true.

Maggie - If you'd said yes, I wouldn't be able to do this next part and I've been practicing so let me... Okay. Ready?

Ike - I'm listening.

Maggie - I guarantee that we'll have tough times. And I guarantee that at some point one or both of us will want to get out. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life. Cause I know in my heart you're the only one for me.

Ike - That's a pretty good speech, Maggie.

Maggie - I borrowed it from this writer I know. So?

Ike - Dance with me.

Pastor - We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Maggie Carpenter and Ike Graham. Do you have the rings?

Ike - Yes.

Pastor - Do you, Ike, take Maggie to be your lawfully wedded wife?

JOKE

The man and his wives

A man gets married and shortly afterwards his wife dies.
A friend tries to console him and asks:
"What happened to your wife?"
"She died of poison from eating mushrooms," said the husband.
This man gets married a second time, and not long after the marriage, this second wife dies.
The same friend tries to console the grieving husband and asks:
"What happened to your second wife?"
"She died of poison from eating mushrooms," was also the reply from the husband.
This man takes a third wife and, not very long after the marriage, the third wife dies.
The consoling friend asks:
"What happened to your third wife? Was it mushroom poisoning?"
The grieving husband responds, "No, she died of a broken neck."
"A broken neck!" replies the friend.
"Yes," says the husband, "she wouldn't eat her mushrooms."

Casablanca

A car drives up the airport, with Laszlo, Ilsa, Rick, and Renault.

Rick: Louis, have your man go with Mr. Laszlo and take care of his luggage.

Renault: Certainly, Rick, anything you say. Find Mr. Laszlo's luggage and put it on the plane.

Officer: Yes, sir. This way please.

Rick: If you don't mind, you fill in the names. That will make it even more official.

Renault: You think of everything, don't you?

Rick: And the names are Mr. and Mrs. Victor Laszlo.

Ilsa: But, why my name, Richard?

Rick: Because you're getting on that plane.

Ilsa: I don't understand. What about you?

Rick: I am staying here with him until the plane gets safely away.

Ilsa: No, Richard, no. What has happened to you? Last night you said...

Rick: Last night we said a great many things. You said I was to do the thinking for both of us. Well I've done a lot of it since then, it all adds up to one thing. You're getting on that plane with Victor where you belong.

Ilsa: But, Richard, no, I...

Rick: Now you've got to listen to me. Do you have any idea what you'd have to look forward to if you stayed here? Nine chances out of ten we'd both end up in a concentration camp, isn't that true, Louis?

Renault: I am afraid Major Strasser would insist.

Ilsa: You're saying this only to make me go.

Rick: I'm saying it because it is true. Inside of us, we both know you belong with Victor. You're part of his work, the thing that keeps him going. If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him you'll regret it.

Ilsa: No.

Rick: Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.

Ilsa: What about us?

Rick: We'll always have Paris. We didn't have, we'd lost it, until you came to Casablanca. We got it back last night.

Ilsa: When I said I would never leave you.

Rick: And you never will. But I've got a job to do too. Where I am going, you can't follow. What I've got to do, you can't be any part of. Ilsa, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you'll understand that. Now, now, here's looking at you kid.

Laszlo: Everything is in order.

Rick: All except one thing. There is something you should know before you leave.

Laszlo: Mr. Blaine, I don't ask you to explain anything.

Rick: I am going to anyway, because it may make a difference to you later on. You said you know about Ilsa and me.

Laszlo: Yes.

Rick: But you didn't know she was at my place last night when you were. She came there for the letters of transit. Isn't that true, Ilsa?

Ilsa: Yes.

Rick: She tried everything to get them and nothing worked. She did her best to convince me that she was still in love with me. That was all over long ago. For your sake she pretended it wasn't, and I let her pretend.

Laszlo: I understand.

Rick: Here it is.

Laszlo: Thanks, I appreciate it. Welcome back to the fight. This time I know our side will win. Are you ready, Ilsa?

Ilsa: Yes, I am ready. Goodbye, Rick. God bless you.

Rick: Better hurry, you'll miss that plane.

TOP 10

Esta situação aparece no texto quando Rick diz: You're getting on that plane (Você vai embarcar naquele avião) e também: I´m staying here (Eu vou ficar aqui).

2- Outra frase que pode gerar confusão, é: I was do the thinking for both of us que significa: eu estava pensando por nós dois. Do the thinking = fazer pensar / pensar.

3- Phrasal Verbs:
Add up = resultar
End up = acabar / resultar
Fill in = preencher
Get on = embarcar
Get away = escapar / fugir
Get back = recuperar

4- Look Forward to = esperar / esperar ansiosamente

5- Belong with X belong to. Encontramos no diálogo: You belong with Victor ( É com o Victor que você deve ficar). "Belong with" não tem o sentido tão forte de posse quanto o "belong to" (pertencer a).

6- Good at = Bom em. Good at being noble (Bom em ser nobre).

7- In love with = apaixonado por

8- I suppose you know = eu suponho que você saiba

9- For your sake = para o seu bem

10- Pretend = fingir

Bye bye.

Mum,
You may be treated like the maid,
you may be treated like the gardner,
you may be treated like the daycare,
you may be treated like the chauffer,
you may be treated like many things.
But one thing is for sure,You will always be loved.
For a fathers work may be from sun up till sundown,
but a mothers work is never down.
And all that I have, am, and hope to be,
I owe to you,
So this is for all the times I forgot to say
THANK YOU!!

"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,

O Diabo veste Prada

O nome em inglês é "The Devil wears Prada".

Miranda - The girls' Recital was absolutely wonderful. They play Rachmaninoff. Everyone loved it, everyone except me, because, sadly, I was not there.

Andy - Miranda, I am so sorry.

Miranda - Do you know why I hired you? I always hire the same girl. Stylish, slender, of course, worships the magazine. But so often, they turn out to be... I don't know, disappointing and... stupid. So you, with you impressive résumé and the big speech about your so-called work ethic... I thought you would be different. I said to myself, " Go ahead, take a chance. Hire the smart fat girl. I had hope. My God, I live on it. Anyway you ended up disappointed me more than any of the others silly girls.

Andy: I really did everything I could thing of...

Miranda: That's all.
