*explicações após o vídeo*

Angela : We're talking Olympic-size.

Jessica : There's no way, He's so skinny. It doesn's make sense.

Angela : Totally, Yeah.

Bella : Who are they?

Angela : The Cullens.

Jessica : They're the Dr. and Mrs. Cullen's forster kids. They moved down here from Alaska, like a few years ago.

Angela : They kind of keep to themselves.

Jessica : Yeah, 'cause they're all together. Like, together, together. The blond girl ,that's Rosalie, and the big dark haired guy, Emmett, they're, like, a thing. I'm not sure that's legal.

Angela : Yeah, but they're not actually related.

Jessica : Yeah, but they live together. It's weird. And,okay, the little dark haired girl's Alice.She's really weird. And she's with Jasper, the blond one who looks like he's in pain. Dr.Cullen's like this forster dad / match maker.

Angela : Maybe he'll adopt me.

Bella : Who is he?

Jessica : That's Edward Cullen. He's totally gorgeous, obviously. But appearently nobody here's good enough for him like I care, you know, so, yeah, seriously, like, don't waste your time.

Bella : I wasn't planning on it.

---------------------------------------------------------------

PRIMEIRA SEMANA - ISTO NÃO FAZ SENTIDO

Na primeira frase de Jessica, ela diz:
Nem pensar, ele é tão magro. Isto não faz sentido.
There's no way, He's so skinny. It doesn't make sense.

1 - It doesn't make any sense = Isto não tem o menor cabimento / Isto não faz o menor sentido
Apenas incluímos o ANY para dar ênfase.

2 - Your idea doesn't make sense to me = Sua idéia não faz sentido para mim

3 - It makes no sense at all = Isto não faz sentido mesmo
O AT ALL no final da frase nos dá a idéia de: de jeito nenhum, de maneira alguma, e ponto final, mesmo.

---------------------------------------------------------------

SEGUNDA SEMANA - ESTAMOS DE MUDANÇA

Na segunda frase de Jessica, ela diz:
Eles se mudaram para cá do Alaska.
They moved down here from Alaska.
Neste contexto, move down significa mudar-se.

Há vários "prasal verbs" com MOVE. Os principais são:

1 - MOVE AWAY: Como "move down". Deixar um lugar para viver em outro.
Eg. I was born in London, but we moved away to Liverpool when I was very young.

2 - MOVE IN: Começar a viver em uma nova casa. Geralmente usamos o "TO" para dizer o local.
Eg. I bought a new house. I'm hoping to move in sometime next month.
I'm going to move in to my brother's apartment.

Eg. I had to move out when the rent became too high for me to live there.

Eg. I think we have discussed this topic enough. Let's move on.
I've been working here for ten years. I want to change my job. It's time for me to move on.

5 - MOVE OVER: Mudar para o lado.
Eg. I want to sit on the sofa too. Can you move over?

E para finalizar, quando queremos dizer que estamos de mudança, usamos a expressão: ON THE MOVE.
Eg. With my kind of job. I'm always on the move.

---------------------------------------------------------------

TERCEIRA SEMANA - NÃO PERCA O SEU TEMPO

Na última frase de Jessica, ela diz:
Não perca o seu tempo.
Don't waste your time.

A dica é que para complementar esta frase, utilizamos a preposição ON, WITH ou o verbo no gerúndio.
Exemplo:
Don't waste your time on internet.
Não perca o seu tempo na internet.

Don't waste your time with me.
Não perca o seu tempo comigo.

Don't waste your time doing that.
Não perca o seu tempo fazendo isto.

---------------------------------------------------------------

QUARTA SEMANA - EU NÃO ESTAVA PENSANDO NISTO

Na última frase de Bella, ela diz:
Eu não estava pensando nisto.
I wasn't planning on that.

"Plan on" significa planejar em / pensar em. Ou seja, a preposição que acompanha o verbo PLAN é a preposição ON.

E sempre que um verbo vier após a preposição "ON", este dever vir no gerúndio. Esta é uma regra gramatical da língua inglesa.
APÓS TODA PREPOSIÇÃO O VERBO DEVE VIR NA FORMA "ING".

Examples:
I am planning on buying a new laptop.
Estou pensando em comprar um laptop novo.

He has been planning on running for president.
Ele vem pensando em concorrer a presidência.

She had planned on becoming an English teacher.

1. A forma de substantivo de algum verbo:
To train = treinar / training = treinamento

Playing tennis is fun. (Jogar tênis é divertido).

I enjoy getting up early. (Eu aprecio levantar cedo).

4. A forma de adjetivo de algum verbo:
This book is very interesting.

Uncle Lewis - I told you, you had too many plugs in one outlet.

Clark - Oh God.

Aunt Bethany - What is it?

Ellen - Nothing. Let's go in and finish our dessert.

Cousin Eddie - If that thing had nine lives, she just spent them all. If you don't mind Clark, I'd like to see if I can fumigate this here chair. It's a good quality item. If you don't mind me asking, how much it set you back?

Clark -Do you smell something?

Cousin Eddie - Fried pussycat.

_______________________________________

1 - ...too many plugs in one outlet

"Plug" significa o conector macho.
"Outlet" em termos elétricos, significa a tomada fêmea.

2 - Fumigate = fumigar

3 - If you don't mind me asking, how much it set you back

O verbo na forma "ing" é sempre empregado após pronomes pessoais e nomes de pessoas em linguagem informal, então a frase: If you don't mind me asking = Se você não se importar que eu pergunte

Outros exemplos:
Do you mind me smoking?
Importa-se que eu fume?

I appreciate you coming here today.
Eu agradeço a tua vinda aqui hoje.

I don’t approve Mary sharing a flat.

1 - We are alike
O oposto de "alike = igual" é "unlike = diferente".

2 - Everything is getting smaller

Outros exemplos:
Ele está ficando cada vez mais bonito. = He is getting more and more beautiful.
Está ficando cada vez mais quente. = It's getting hotter and hotter.
Ela está ficando cada dia mais alta. = She is getting taller and taller.

3 - This may seem like an excuse
Excuse, with the S sounding like S in See, is a noun.
Excuse, with the S sounding like Z in Zebra, is a verb.
O mesmo acontece com outras palavras como:

House, with the S sounding like S in See, is a noun.
House, with the S sounding like Z in Zebra, is a verb.

Use, with the S sounding like S in See, is a noun.
Use, with the S sounding like Z in Zebra, is a verb.

Abuse, with the S sounding like S in See, is a noun.
Abuse, with the S sounding like Z in Zebra, is a verb.

Close, with the S sounding like S in See, is an adjective.
Close, with the S sounding like Z in Zebra, is a verb.

Exemplos:
OBject = obJECT
PREsent = preSENT
PROgress = proGRESS
PROject = proJECT
REcord = reCORD
SUBject = subJECT

4 - Mindless is the devil place
O sufixo "less" passa a idéia de falta, ausência.
Outros exemplos:
Homeless = sem-teto
Careless = descuidado

5 - He has not been used to me so far
"So Far", na realidade significa "até agora". Sabem aquela expressão: So far so good (Até agora tudo bem).

6 - Trust is conquered over time
Over time = ao longo do tempo
Diferente de:
Overtime = horas extras

7 - It is funny

8 - We are not still happy enough
"Still" e "Yet" significam = ainda.

9 - ...ending up with nothing
End up with + noun = acabar com + substantantivo
End up in + noun = acabar em + substantivo
End up + adjective = acabar + adjetivo

10 - Sheninagans has no explanation
Poderia ser: Sheninagans don't have explanations.

I didn't have a car.
I had no car.

I don't have money.
I have no money.
